Best Lawyers in America Names Robert J. Diehl, Jr. 2010 Detroit Banking Lawyer of the Year
12/10/2009Bodman LLP partner Robert J. Diehl, Jr., a senior member of the firm's Banking Law Group and chair of the Debtor-Creditor Rights and Bankruptcy Group, has been named 2010 Detroit Banking Lawyer of the Year by the publication The Best Lawyers in America.
He is the only banking law specialist in the Detroit market chosen for this honor.
Diehl's selection resulted from a survey of leading southeast Michigan attorneys conducted by The Best Lawyers in America. According to the publisher, lawyers chosen for the Lawyer of the Year designation achieved survey results that indicate a particularly high level of respect among their peers for their legal abilities, professionalism, and integrity.
"We continue to believe -- as we have believed for more than 25 years -- that recognition by one's peers is the most meaningful form of praise in the legal profession," said Steven Naifeh, Best Lawyers in America managing editor.
Diehl represents clients in complex business law matters and commercial transactions with a particular focus on debtor-creditor rights and bankruptcy. He represents financial institutions in out-of-court workouts and in bankruptcy proceedings involving all types of businesses and collateral, especially automotive-related businesses and real estate and construction businesses.
The Banking Lawyer of the Year designation is one of many honors Diehl has received based on client and peer reviews. He holds the prestigious "first band" ranking from the internationally-recognized journal Chambers USA as one of Michigan's leading debtor-creditor rights experts. Michigan Super Lawyers has ranked him as one of the state's top debtor-creditor rights specialists and as one of the top 100 attorneys in the state. The Best Lawyers in America ranks him as a leading expert in the both Banking Law and Creditor-Debtor Rights and Bankruptcy Law.
