Nathan Dupes Takes on Two Positions Focused on Protecting the Environment

Nathan D. Dupes, of the firm’s Detroit office, has been elected to the board of directors of the Great Lakes Environmental Law Center and named a “Citizen Forester” with the Greening of Detroit.
Dupes is a member of Bodman’s Environmental Practice Group and Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group.
While in law school, Dupes was a member of Wayne Law Moot Court, served as assistant and senior note and comment editor of Wayne Law Review, and as president and treasurer of the Environmental Law Society. He served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Arthur T. Tarnow of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Based in Detroit, The Great Lakes Environmental Law Center was founded to protect the world’s largest freshwater source. The Center works in partnership with the Environmental Law Clinic at the Wayne State University Law School to address environmental issues affecting the metro-Detroit area. The Center’s board and staff are comprised of innovative environmental attorneys.
Greening of Detroit was established in 1989 to guide the reforestation of Detroit, and to “inspire sustainable growth of a healthy urban community through trees, green spaces, food, education, training and job opportunities.” A “Citizen Forester” is a volunteer who is specially trained on tree-planting techniques, tree identification and tree maintenance, by a member of Greening’s forestry team. Once trained, Citizen Foresters are assigned their own team of volunteers to serve at various planting sites.
