By: Bodman PLC

04/02/20

Bodman is pleased to announce that Nicholas P. Scavone, Jr., who chairs the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group, has been elected a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL).

ACREL is an invitation-only professional organization of leading real estate attorneys. Membership is limited to lawyers who have a strong practice in real estate law and are committed to the improvement of real estate law.

ACREL seeks to promote high standards and ethics for real estate lawyers and to improve and reform real estate practice. The organization also seeks to inform its members of developments and issues within the real estate practice, publishes educational materials available to the public and to the rest of the bar, and sometimes participates in policy discussions.

Scavone represents banks and other financial institutions in a wide variety of complex, multi-million dollar, secured loans and other financial arrangements involving real estate. He also represents lenders in direct and syndicated mortgage warehousing lines of credit. He has extensive experience with commercial real estate loan workouts, foreclosures, receiverships, deeds in lieu of foreclosure, and sales of REO.

In addition to banking and finance matters, Scavone represents clients in complex real estate transactions, including purchases and sales for cash, on land contract, with seller financing or otherwise, involving real estate from single family homes to multi-million dollar commercial properties. He has handled numerous commercial leases for landlords and tenants, including leases of office, retail and manufacturing space, ground leases, and subleases. He has represented owners and developers in construction related matters.

Scavone is the immediate past chair of the State Bar of Michigan’s Real Property Law Section. He is a member of the Michigan Land Title Standards Committee and a Fellow of the America College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA). He is listed as a leading real estate practitioner in all of the leading journals that evaluate business attorneys, including The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, Michigan Super Lawyers, and DBusiness “Top Lawyers.”
