Ms. Powalka represents business clients in connection with a variety of commercial transactions, including the drafting and negotiation of vendor contracts for a broad range of goods and services.

Before joining Bodman, Ms. Powalka worked as an associate attorney for a small southeast Michigan law firm where she participated in various business transactions and in civil litigation involving real estate, construction, and general business issues.

At Wayne Law, Ms. Powalka received multiple academic honors, including the Dean’s Scholarship (Fall 2014 and Fall 2012) and the Wachler & Associates Annual Scholarship (Winter 2014). She also worked as a student attorney with the Business and Community Law Clinic where she helped a start-up company establish business operations in Detroit and worked with a New York corporation seeking to expand into Michigan.

Ms. Powalka serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of FAR Therapeutic Art and Recreation, a non-profit that provides music, art and recreational therapies to individuals with special needs.

She is a member of the Lawyers and Judges Assistance Committee of the State Bar of Michigan and the Polish-American Chamber of Commerce of Michigan.

Ms. Powalka is fluent in Polish.
