Jamie A. Hochman Herz Joins Bodman PLC as Pro Bono Counsel

Bodman PLC is pleased to announce that Jamie A. Hochman Herz has joined the firm as its full-time pro bono counsel.

In this role Hochman Herz will coordinate all aspects of Bodman’s pro bono program in conjunction with the Pro Bono Committee and will manage the firm’s relationships with numerous legal clinics and referring organizations. She is based in the Ann Arbor office.

Hochman Herz has more than 15 years of experience in legal advocacy, policy development and analysis, and program development and evaluation. She has spent her entire career working at nonprofits, serving in positions utilizing both her legal and social work degrees.

Before joining Bodman, she served as legal counsel to the Michigan Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, an organization focused on advocating for residents in long term care settings. She also served as a program director with the Alzheimer’s Association where she managed five program coordinators delivering services in 23 Michigan counties.

Hochman Herz also spent eight years in senior administrative roles with the American Bar Association, including six years as assistant staff counsel to the Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service. As assistant staff counsel, she managed a first of its kind major empirical study on the pro bono participation of America’s lawyers. Hochman Herz also acted as a policy expert on issues such as judicial involvement in and promotion of pro bono, and provided technical assistance to judges, legal services organizations and state bar programs.  She also served as a special projects coordinator with the ABA’s Commission on Mental and Physical Disability Law, where she coordinated the National Mentoring Program for Law Students with Disabilities, authored reports on the representation of attorneys with disabilities in leadership positions within the ABA, and partnered with other national organizations to produce educational materials for individuals with disabilities.

Hochman Herz received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. She earned an M.S.W. with honors and a B.A. with high distinction from the University of Michigan.
