William P. Scarbrough Joins Bodman PLC as Chief Operating Officer

William P. Scarbrough has joined Bodman PLC as chief operating officer.
In his new role, Scarbrough will head Bodman’s administrative staff and lead various strategic projects for the 158-lawyer firm.
Scarbrough has 25 years of experience in law firm administration. He has served in senior management roles in the United States and Europe with several large national and international law firms.
Immediately before joining Bodman, Scarbrough served as chief human resources officer with Barnes & Thornburg LLP in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His previous positions include chief operating officer with Baker & McKenzie LLP in Washington and New York, chief information officer with Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago, and chief administrator of Kirkland & Ellis’s London office, among others.
“After conducting a national search we concluded that Bill Scarbrough had an unmatched skill set and was a perfect fit for us,” said Bodman Chairman Ralph E. McDowell. “We look forward to benefiting from Bill’s national perspective as our activities continue to expand both within and outside of Michigan.”
Scarbrough graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in German and master’s degrees in Political Science and Information and Library Studies.
A native of the Grand Rapids area, Scarbrough serves as president of the board of directors of the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre and as a member of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce CEO Roundtable. He co-edits Practice Innovations, a newsletter on law firm management topics published by Thomson Reuters.
