A Message to our Friends and Clients on the Passing of Donald H. Scharg
12/22/19
We are saddened to report that Donald H. Scharg, a member of Bodman and one of the firm’s senior labor and employment lawyers, passed away on December 22, 2019 after an extended illness. Don was 66.
Don’s legal career spanned more than 40 years. He joined Bodman in 2008 when the firm merged with Don’s former law firm, the Fishman Group. At Bodman, Don distinguished himself as a loyal and reliable friend and law partner, a technically outstanding lawyer, and a mentor to many of his junior colleagues. He was a frequent contributor to Bodman Workplace Law Group newsletters and seminars and a regular presenter to employer groups throughout the state. He served a broad variety of employers but was particularly well known for his construction industry expertise, having achieved many favorable outcomes for his clients.
Don was also active outside of Bodman, serving on the boards of directors of the Frankel Jewish Academy in West Bloomfield and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Michigan Chamber’s Health and Human Resources Committee and participated in many employment law seminars for Chamber members.
We will miss Don’s friendship, his steady and reassuring presence in the Troy office, and the many ways he quietly contributed to the life of the firm. On behalf of the entire Bodman family, we extend our sincere condolences to Don’s wife, Janice, and to their children, Ari and Sally, and their 3 grandchildren.
