Bodman Admits Five New Members

Bodman PLC is pleased to announce that Fawzeih H. Daher, Kelsey M. Doran, Debani Gordon Lehman, Matthew A. Slipchuk and Ryan C. Washburn have been admitted as members of the firm.
All were previously senior associates with Bodman.
Daher practices in Bodman’s Detroit office and is a member of the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group. She regularly briefs and argues high-stakes disputes in the Michigan Court of Appeals, Michigan Supreme Court, and Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. She has successfully represented clients in reversing adverse decisions, defending trial court wins, and securing stays and other strategic relief. Her practice encompasses contractual disputes, business torts, real property matters, shareholder disputes, construction claims, and general liability litigation.
Daher is actively involved in the legal and business communities and serves on the Executive Council of the State Bar of Michigan Appellate Practice Section. She is also chair of the Appellate Practice Section’s Rules and Legislation Committee. Daher is listed in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch under Appellate Practice and Commercial Litigation and in Michigan Rising Stars under Business Litigation. She is a graduate of Wayne State University Law School and also earned her undergraduate degree at Wayne State.
Doran practices in Bodman’s Ann Arbor office and is a member of the Business Practice Group. She represents a variety of corporate clients in connection with the structuring and negotiation of complex transactions and on general organizational and business matters. She counsels start-up and early-stage companies on matters ranging from formation to venture capital financings and sale transactions. She also works on a variety of merger and acquisition transactions across a broad range of industries.
Before joining Bodman as an associate attorney, she participated in the firm’s summer associate program, gaining broad exposure to a variety of clients and areas of practice. Doran is listed in Michigan Rising Stars under Business/Corporate. She is a cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School and earned her undergraduate degree from Kalamazoo College.
Lehman practices in Bodman’s Ann Arbor office and is a member of the Municipal Law and Governmental Relations and Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution practice groups. She focuses her practice on municipal law, representing city leaders, departments, and related entities on a broad range of legal issues faced by municipal governments. Lehman provides general counsel services to several municipal governments and to departments of public works, development authorities, planning departments, police departments, city administrators, city clerks, and city councils. She is also a trained civil mediator.
Before joining Bodman, Lehman practiced with another Michigan-based law firm where she handled multimillion-dollar water, sewer, and stormwater class action litigations for various municipalities and defended several municipalities against complex discrimination cases filed with the EEOC and MDCR. She is listed in Michigan Rising Stars under General Litigation and State, Local & Municipal Law and in DBusiness Top Lawyers under Municipal Law. Lehman is a cum laude graduate of Michigan State University College of Law and earned her undergraduate degree from Kennesaw State University.
Slipchuk practices in Bodman’s Detroit office and is a member of the Business and Tax practice groups. He represents business clients in connection with complex transactions and general corporate matters and has particular experience advising on the tax aspects of M&A transactions. He also advises clients on regulatory trade and compliance matters including import activities, proper classification of merchandise, correct valuation, and regulatory restrictions and exemptions, and on export controls and compliance with regulatory restrictions.
Before joining Bodman, Slipchuk practiced as a senior associate with a global accounting firm where he represented large corporate clients and private equity firms as a transactional tax advisor, participating in transactions ranging in size up to $24 billion. He is listed in Michigan Rising Stars under Mergers & Acquisitions. Slipchuk is a graduate of DePaul University Law School and holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Windsor.
Washburn practices in Bodman’s Ann Arbor office and is a member of the Business and Aviation Law and Finance practice groups. He represents corporate clients in connection with mergers and acquisitions, complex business transactions, and general organizational and business matters including business formation and structuring, corporate governance, financing transactions, and commercial contracts. He also has experience counseling clients on tax planning and transaction structuring to achieve efficient and practical business outcomes.
Before joining Bodman, Washburn practiced with another Michigan-based business and tax law firm where he represented clients on corporate transactions and tax matters. He also worked as a senior tax consultant with a global accounting firm where he helped analyze the tax consequences of transactions and helped clients identify and minimize exposure and risks. Washburn is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law and earned his undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University.
