It is Bodman’s first appearance on the Best Law Firms list for Grand Rapids. U.S. News also recognized the Grand Rapids office for excellence in both Litigation – Tax and Banking & Finance Law.
“It’s great to see that the market is recognizing the outstanding team that we are building in Grand Rapids” said Bodman Chair Carrie Leahy. “We offer a wide range of business law services in Grand Rapids and are looking to add more talented attorneys in key practice areas in the near future, particularly corporate, banking, and high net worth.”

Bodman’s Grand Rapids tax practice is led by Wayne D. Roberts, who is one of Michigan’s most highly regarded authorities on business tax issues. Roberts chairs the Michigan Chamber of Commerce Tax Committee and is a former chair of the State Bar of Michigan’s Taxation Section. The Best Lawyers in America named Roberts the 2021 Grand Rapids Lawyer of the Year for Tax Law and he will be the 2022 Lawyer of the Year for Litigation and Controversy-Tax. He was joined earlier in 2021 by Associate Erin M. Haney, a CPA and a former senior auditor for the Michigan Department of Treasury with extensive experience handling Michigan tax compliance and controversy matters.
U.S. News rankings are based on a rigorous research process which includes feedback from clients and peers regarding the firm’s practice group expertise, responsiveness, and business acumen. The “Best Law Firms” designation reflects the high level of respect a firm has earned among other leading lawyers and clients in the same communities and the same practice areas for their abilities, their professionalism, and their integrity.
