Bodman PLC is pleased to announce that Katharine (Kate) Brink Harrison has joined the firm as its manager of diversity and talent.
In her new role, Harrison will work closely with Bodman’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, practice group leaders, and other senior managers to advance the firm’s diversity and inclusion and attorney development efforts. She will also serve on a team that is coordinating Bodman’s current participation in the year-long Mansfield Certification process. The goal of Mansfield Certification is to increase diversity in law firm leadership.
“Diversity is one of our core values as a firm, and we are thrilled to have Kate Harrison on the team to help us further our diversity efforts,” said Bodman Chair Carrie Leahy. “I look forward to working with Kate and our DEI Committee as we take our diversity and inclusion efforts to the next level and work towards Mansfield Certification.”
Bodman is one of only a few Michigan-based law firms to employ a full-time, dedicated diversity professional. Bodman was also one of the first Michigan law firms to form a standing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee more than a decade ago.
Harrison is based in Bodman’s Detroit office but will spend time in each of the firm’s offices and help lead firm-wide initiatives.
Before joining Bodman, Harrison served as director of career services & outreach at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. She is a licensed attorney and, before joining the law school, spent several years in private practice. She earned her law degree at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and her undergraduate degree at Albion College.
