Bodman's Floyd Gates and Wayne Roberts Included On Grand Rapids Business Journal List of Notable West Michigan Lawyers

We are pleased to announce that two Bodman attorneys, Floyd E. Gates, Jr. and Wayne D. Roberts, have been included on the inaugural Grand Rapids Business Journal list of “Notable West Michigan Lawyers.”
According to the publication, the Notable West Michigan Lawyers list “introduces members of the legal profession who are making their mark in the community in a variety of ways. All are attorneys, but each is contributing to West Michigan’s growth by using their legal expertise in areas beyond the office and courtroom.”
Gates, who leads Bodman’s rapidly growing Grand Rapids office, is an experienced litigation, banking and corporate attorney. He has represented financial institutions throughout the country in connection with workout and related litigation and in connection with complex loan documentation. He has also handled significant real estate related litigation and represented insurance carriers in connection with large coverage and subrogation claims. Gates also serves as general corporate counsel for many small and medium sized companies.
Gates served his country for twelve years in the United States Army Reserves as both a communications specialist attached to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and as a legal specialist attached to an office of the Judge Advocate General (JAG).
Roberts, who co chairs Bodman’s Business Tax Group, focuses on corporate, business and individual tax planning and federal, state and local tax controversies. For more than 20 years, he has been involved in a majority of the significant legislative, administrative and case law developments that have taken place in Michigan taxation. His practice includes all aspects of federal and state tax planning, structuring, and tax litigation, and he has represented both closely-held and publicly traded companies in transactional tax matters. He has also represented many businesses and individuals in tax disputes with the IRS, the Michigan Department of Treasury and revenue departments in various other states.
Roberts is the first lawyer from Grand Rapids to have been inducted into the American College of Tax Counsel. He is the current Best Lawyers in America Grand Rapids Lawyer of the Year for both Tax Law and for Litigation and Controversy-Tax.
