Four Bodman Attorneys Recognized in Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s Legal 250

Bodman PLC is pleased to announce that four of the firm’s attorneys have been selected for inclusion in Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s Legal 250 list for 2026: Carrie Leahy (Business Transactions), Timothy R. Damschroder (Business Transactions), Jennifer M. Oertel (Nonprofits), and Brian R. Trumbauer (Creditors’ Rights).
The Legal 250 list celebrates the most influential and accomplished attorneys across 40 practice areas in the Michigan legal community. Featured individuals have demonstrated sustained success and the ability to navigate evolving client needs, legal developments, technology, economic challenges and strong community engagement.
Leahy, Bodman’s chair, concentrates her practice in corporate and business law. She counsels both established and emerging businesses on general corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, compliance with securities regulations, and issues involving venture capital funding. Leahy has drafted and negotiated transactional documents for both publicly and privately held entities involved in mergers and acquisitions ranging in size up to more than $1 billion. She serves on the boards of the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti SmartZone Local Development Finance Authority and the Detroit Regional Chamber and is a member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Business Law Section Council.
Damschroder is co-chair of the firm’s Business Practice Group, specializing in middle-market M&A transactions and corporate finance. He guides a broad range of clients through the transaction process, from pre-letter of intent negotiations to final closing. He also has significant experience counseling technology companies from startup through transactions involving intellectual property, venture capital financing, and eventual sale. Damschroder is a trustee of the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation and a member of the board of directors for the University Musical Society.
Oertel, co-chair of Bodman’s Exempt Organizations and Impact Investing Practice Group, provides strategic business advice and practical legal guidance to a diverse range of tax-exempt organizations, including impact funds and investors, family and corporate foundations, community foundations, public charities, and chambers of commerce. She is co-chair of the Nonprofit Corporations Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and a fellow with the Council of Michigan Foundations, where she serves as an expert in residence for impact investing.
Trumbauer focuses his practice on debtor-creditor rights and bankruptcy, with a particular emphasis on representing banks and other financial institutions in loan workouts, commercial bankruptcy cases, and troubled credit situations. He has represented secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, trustees, creditors’ committees, and other interested parties in bankruptcy cases and debtor-creditor disputes. He also has represented Tier 1 automotive companies and other manufacturing companies in bankruptcy and troubled supplier situations. Trumbauer previously served as a member of a standing Advisory Committee to the Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
