Three Bodman Attorneys Listed in Crain’s 2025 Notable M&A Dealmakers

Bodman PLC is proud to share that Gene P. Bowen, Timothy R. Damschroder, and Carrie Leahy have been recognized in Crain’s Detroit Business 2025 Notable M&A Dealmakers.
Bodman has more Dealmakers recognized on the list than any other organization.
The Notable M&A Dealmakers recognizes experienced attorneys and executives who have led complex merger and acquisition deals between companies that span the country and the globe. Collectively, those recognized have overseen billions of dollars in transactions, from private equity roll-up mergers to expansions and major exits.
Bowen, who is based in the Firm’s Troy office, is the co-chair of Bodman’s Business Practice Group. He concentrates his practice in general business law and helps clients structure, negotiate, and document mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, joint ventures, and other commercial transactions. He has extensive experience in the automotive industry where he counsels clients in all aspects of the manufacturing supply chain, including the quotation and purchase order process, general terms and conditions, supply agreements and disputes, equipment and tooling issues, bailment and consignment, warranty claims, and various other commercial issues.
Bowen is listed in IFLR1000 as a highly regarded Michigan practitioner for M&A, in Chambers USA for Corporate/M&A Law, and in DBusiness magazine as a 2025 “Top Lawyer” for M&A Law.
Based in the firm’s Ann Arbor office, Damschroder is the co-chair of the Business Practice Group and specializes in middle market M&A transactions and corporate finance. He guides a broad range of clients through the transaction process, from pre-letter of intent negotiations to final closing. He also has significant experience counseling technology companies from start up to transactions involving intellectual property, to venture capital financing, to eventual sale.
Damschroder is one of only three top-tier ranked lawyers in Chambers USA 2025 under Corporate/M&A in Michigan. He has been named multiple times as the Best Lawyers in America Ann Arbor “Lawyer of the Year” for Mergers and Acquisitions Law. He is also listed in IFLR1000 2025 under Mergers and Acquisitions and in Michigan Super Lawyers 2025 under Mergers and Acquisitions.
Leahy is the chair of Bodman and is based in its Ann Arbor office. She concentrates her practice in corporate and business law where she counsels both established and emerging businesses on general corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, compliance with securities regulations, and issues involving venture capital funding. Leahy has drafted and negotiated transactional documents for both publicly and privately held entities involved in mergers and acquisitions ranging in size up to more than $1 billion.
In 2021, Crain’s Detroit Business honored Leahy as one of Michigan’s 100 Most Influential Women. DBusiness Magazine has listed her among Detroit’s 500 Most Powerful Business Leaders.
