Two Bodman Attorneys Named to State Bar of Michigan Section Leadership Positions

Bodman PLC is pleased to announce that two of its attorneys have been named to leadership positions within the State Bar of Michigan.
Member Carrie Leahy, who is chair of Bodman’s executive management committee, has been named chair of the State Bar of Michigan Business Law Section Council, and Member Erica J. Sarver has been appointed chair of the State Bar of Michigan Environmental Law Section Council.
The State Bar of Michigan’s Business Law Section and Environmental Law Section support the development and practice of their respective fields through education, mentorship, networking, and professional engagement. The Business Law Section works to enhance Michigan’s legislative and regulatory environment for conducting business while promoting ethical conduct and collegiality within the profession. The Environmental Law Section reviews laws and regulations affecting Michigan’s environment and natural resources and advances the education of attorneys and the public on environmental and natural resources law by monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, sponsoring institutes and conferences, and supporting the publication of legal writing focused on these issues.
As a member of Bodman’s Business Law Practice Group, Leahy counsels both established and emerging businesses on general corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, compliance with securities regulations, and issues involving venture capital funding. She assumes the role of chair after having served on the Business Law Section Council since 2018 and previously holding the positions of secretary, treasurer, and vice chair. Leahy is also vice chair of the board of Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti SmartZone Local Development Finance Authority and a member of the board of directors of the Detroit Regional Chamber.
Leahy has recently been named a “Woman of Influence” and a “Notable M&A Dealmaker” by Crain’s Detroit Business. She is listed as a “Highly Regarded Practitioner” in Mergers & Acquisitions by IFLR1000, is listed under Corporate/M&A in Chambers USA, and is listed under Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions Law in The Best Lawyers in America.
Sarver, a member in Bodman’s Environmental Law and Litigation and ADR practice groups, focuses her practice on helping clients navigate the intersection of litigation and economic development, with an emphasis on environmental challenges that clients face throughout the course of real estate transactions. Sarver assumes the role of chair after serving on the Environmental Law Section Council since 2022, including service as secretary/treasurer and chair-elect. She is also a member of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Energy and Environment Committee.
Sarver is listed in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America under Environmental Law and Commercial Litigation. She has been listed as a “Top Lawyer” by DBusiness magazine and has been named to Benchmark Litigation’s 40 & Under Hot List.
