Wayne D. Roberts Named Best Lawyers in America 2027 “Lawyer of the Year”

Bodman PLC is pleased to announce that Wayne D. Roberts has been named the 2027 Grand Rapids “Lawyer of the Year” for Litigation and Controversy – Tax by the publisher of The Best Lawyers in America.
The Lawyer of the Year honor is awarded to only one lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area. It reflects particularly strong results in Best Lawyers’ annual peer review assessments and the high level of respect a lawyer has earned from other leading lawyers in the same community and practice area for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity.
Roberts is co-chair of Bodman’s Business Tax Group and focuses his practice on corporate, business, and individual tax planning, as well as federal, state, and local tax controversies. He has represented closely held and publicly traded companies in transactional tax matters, including mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and dispositions. Roberts is chair of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce’s Tax Committee and a member of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce’s Tax Committee.
Roberts previously received Grand Rapids Lawyer of the Year honors for Tax Law in 2014, 2017, 2021, and 2023, and for Litigation and Controversy – Tax in 2017, 2023, and 2025. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America continuously since 2013 based on an extensive peer-review process that reflects the opinions of leading practitioners in the lawyer’s same geographic region and practice specialty.
