Wayne Roberts Elected Fellow of The American College of Tax Counsel

Bodman PLC is pleased to announce that Wayne D. Roberts of the firm’s Grand Rapids office has been elected as a Fellow of The American College of Tax Counsel (ACTC) by the College’s Board of Regents.
Roberts joins a select group of approximately 700 tax attorneys nationwide who have been elected as ACTC Fellows. There have been nine prior Fellows elected from the state of Michigan, and Roberts is the only current Fellow who practices in the Grand Rapids area.
Prospective Fellows must be nominated by a current ACTC Fellow and are selected based upon a record of excellence in the practice of tax law and for their outstanding contributions and commitment to the field of tax law. ACTC Fellowship is widely considered as one of the highest professional honors that a tax attorney can achieve.
Roberts has more than 20 years of experience as both a tax lawyer and a certified public accountant. He focuses his legal practice on corporate, business, and individual tax planning and federal, state, and local tax controversies.
Roberts is co-chair of Bodman’s Business Tax Group and one of Michigan’s most highly regarded practitioners in the area of state and local tax law. He has been named Grand Rapids “Lawyer of the Year” in tax law categories by The Best Lawyers in America a total of seven times since 2013. He chairs the Michigan Chamber of Commerce Tax Committee and is a past chair of the State Bar of Michigan Taxation Section and the National Association of State Bar Tax Sections. Roberts is affiliated with many leading professional and civic organizations including the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, among others.
Roberts is a frequent writer and presenter on tax law and related topics and served as an adjunct faculty member at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and Walsh College.
