Mark Peters provides experienced, insightful and effective corporate and business law counsel to both public and private company clients in a variety of industries. Mark’s areas of expertise include mergers and acquisitions, including international transactions; securities regulation and compliance; commercial contracts; and corporate governance compliance. He is a member of Bodman’s Business Practice Group and Automotive and Industrial Team.

Mark has successfully completed numerous types of transactions for his clients, including purchases and sales of entire businesses, subsidiaries and divisions, in a range of industries, including automotive, broadcast communications, sports apparel, infrastructure, insurance, telecommunications, and life sciences. Mark’s hands-on, practical approach, coupled with his close attention to both legal and business priorities, has lead Chambers USA to describe him as being “renowned for his strengths in M&A.” Mark is experienced in the acquisition and disposition of both U.S. businesses and international operations, representing both domestic and multi-national clients. He also guides clients in U.S. public securities regulation and compliance matters, and has represented issuers in public and private securities offerings.

Mark has extensive experience counseling private companies, including automotive suppliers and businesses in other industries, providing seasoned counsel regarding commercial agreements; corporate governance best practices, including owner, director and officer fiduciary obligations; and numerous other day-to-day business and commercial issues.

Mark maintains a network of expert foreign counsel, providing a valuable resource for collaboration on international transactions and to solve other multi-national client issues. While a partner at another large local firm, Mark was recognized as Member of the Year by World Services Group, an international legal and business referral network.

DBusiness magazine named Mark a “Top Lawyer” in Commercial Law and Securities Law for 2024. He is listed in Chambers USA 2023 under Corporate/M&A, in Michigan Super Lawyers 2019 under Business/Corporate, and in The Best Lawyers in America 2024 under Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions Law.

In 2017-2018 Mark served as Chair of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and is the founder and a current member of the Section’s Diversity & Inclusion Directorship, promoting increased diversity in the practice of business law. For many years, Mark served as the host and moderator of the annual Michigan Business Law Institute, sponsored by the Business Law Section and the Institute for Continuing Legal Education. In 2019 Mark was Senior Warden at Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills, a leading church in the greater Detroit area with more than 1,600 members.
