Bodman PLC Continues Participation in Mansfield Rule 2023-2024 Program

Bodman PLC is proud to announce its continued participation in Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule 2023-2024 certification process, a legal industry initiative to promote greater law firm diversity by using objective hiring and promotion metrics.

In 2022, the firm joined as a participating law firm in Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule 6.0 Certification program which works to increase diversity in law firm leadership. The Mansfield methodology uses a data-driven research method that embeds accountability, transparency, and knowledge sharing into law firm talent attraction, retention, and promotion practices. In the first year of participating, Bodman was awarded Certification Plus status, the highest level of designation in the Mansfield program.

Bodman’s participation in the Mansfield Certification program was coordinated by the firm’s standing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. The firm formed the DEI Committee over a decade ago to grow a rich environment that produces the progressive and creative thinking essential to providing the best legal services. Throughout its history, the DEI Committee has implemented many programs and policies that are designed to advance equal opportunity and inclusiveness both within the firm and the legal profession as a whole.

“Bodman strives to foster a diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace,” said Bodman Chair Carrie Leahy. “While there is always room for improvement, we can take pride in the progress we have made so far and the future we are building for the next generation of lawyers.”

Bodman aims to:

  • Consider at least 30% historically underrepresented attorneys, which includes women, racially/ethnically diverse attorneys, LGBTQ+ attorneys and attorneys with disabilities, for leadership roles, equity partnership and other activities that focus on the path to leadership.
  • Consider 30% underrepresented talent for C-suite roles.
  • Create and publish transparent job descriptions for leadership roles.
  • Continue routine check-in, data-collection, and reporting milestones with Diversity Lab.
