Five Associate Attorneys Join Bodman

Bodman PLC is pleased to announce that five associate attorneys have joined the firm: Moriam M. Aigoro, M. Brian Braum, Jr., Dmetri J. Culkar, Samantha K. Wiesner, and Katelyn M. Young.

Aigoro, who was in Bodman’s 2016-2017 summer associate class, is a member of the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Ann Arbor office. She works with a variety of clients to protect and enforce their intellectual property rights. Before becoming an attorney, Aigoro worked as an intellectual property project manager and rights acquisition specialist for a major academic publisher. She received numerous academic awards in law school and served as a legal intern to the Hon. Elizabeth A. Stafford, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Michigan. Aigoro has worked with many organizations that promote the health and welfare of young people, including several years as a civil engagement scholar with the Mary Jane Underwood Stryker Institute for Service-Learning and internships with America’s Promise Alliance and with Defensoria de los Habitantes in San José, Costa Rica.

Aigoro earned her undergraduate degree from Kalamazoo College and her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy Law School.

Braum is a member of Bodman’s Banking and Bankruptcy and Debtor-Rights practice groups in the Detroit office. He represents financial institutions in the negotiation and documentation of commercial lending arrangements and represents business clients, including banks, in connection with commercial bankruptcy issues and disputes. In law school, Braum was a three-time recipient of the Law Merit Scholarship and participated in the Civil Litigation Clinic and the Third Year in Practice Program. He is a former law clerk with two Chicago-based firms and served as a legal extern with the Chicago Park District. Before becoming an attorney, Braum worked as a senior intelligence analyst for an accounting and consulting firm and as an intelligence analyst intern with the Michigan State Police.

Braum earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and his law degree from DePaul University College of Law.

Culkar is a member of Bodman’s Business Practice Group in the Ann Arbor office. He assists start-up and established businesses with corporate formation and governance, commercial transactions, contracts, and general corporate law matters. Culkar was a member of Bodman’s 2017 summer associate class. He also served as a summer associate with the corporate/M&A department of an AmLaw 100 firm where he drafted corporate governance documents and assisted with due diligence reviews. In law school, he received the Dean’s Scholarship for academic excellence. He worked as a student attorney with the University of Michigan Entrepreneurship Clinic and as a legal intern for SavCo Hospitality Group in Ann Arbor.

Culkar earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.

Wiesner is a member of the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice Group in the Detroit office. She represents employers and benefit plan service providers on ERISA issues, benefit plan arrangements, and related civil litigation. While in law school she served as articles editor of the University of Richmond Law Review and was a member of the Phi Delta Phi international legal honor society. She served as a federal judicial intern with the Hon. David W. McKeague of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and with the Hon. Henry E. Hudson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and served as a legal intern with the Henrico County (Virginia) Attorney’s office. As an undergraduate she worked as a research assistant with the University of Michigan Law School where she conducted research on employment and hiring practices.

Wiesner earned her undergraduate degree, with honors, from the University of Michigan and her law degree cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law.

Young is a member of the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group in the Detroit office. She represents business clients in commercial litigation matters. Young was a member of Bodman’s 2017 summer associate class and was active with many student activities and organizations in law school, including Moot Court, the Student Bar Association, the Wayne Law Student Ambassadors Program, the Medical Health & Law Society, and The Legal Advocacy for People with Cancer Clinic, among others. She received multiple academic honors including the Brass Ring Endowed Scholarship and the Mark A. Miller Scholarship and She was a Federal Judicial Intern for the Hon. Sean F. Cox in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Before attending law school, Young worked with the University of Michigan Health System in various roles and served two internships with the U.S. Marshals Service in Detroit.

Young earned her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and her law degree from Wayne State University Law School.
