Governor Snyder Appoints Bodman Attorney Timothy R. Damschroder to Michigan Health Endowment Fund Board

By: Bodman PLC

10/04/13

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has appointed Bodman PLC attorney Timothy R. Damschroder to a four-year term on the newly created Michigan Health Endowment Fund Board.

The Health Endowment Fund’s purpose is to benefit the health and wellness of Michigan residents with a focus on programs for children and senior citizens. The Fund was created through the passage of Public Act 4 of 2013 which authorized changes to how Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) operates. Under the new law, BCBSM will contribute up to $1.56 billion to the Fund over 18 years.

Damschroder is based in Bodman’s Ann Arbor office. He chairs the Business Practice Group and is a member of the firm’s executive management committee.

Damschroder brings more than 25 years of experience in business law and finance to the board. His legal practice is focused on private equity and venture capital financing, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial loans, complex business transactions, business formation, and corporate governance. He also advises hi-tech companies from startup, to transactions involving intellectual property, to venture capital financing, to eventual sale. He is part of a Bodman team that has represented more than one-third of the start-up and spin-off companies that have recently licensed technology from the University of Michigan.

An active community volunteer, Damschroder serves on the board of directors of the Washtenaw County Red Cross, the board of directors of the Washtenaw County United Way, the Major Gifts Committee of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, and various committees of Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor. He is a past president of the board of directors of Peace Neighborhood Center and a past vice chair of the board of directors of Nonprofit Enterprise at Work.
