Grand Rapids, the second largest city in Michigan, has a strong and diverse economy and a rich history. In the late 19th century, the city’s position near the Great Lakes and Michigan’s vast forests made it a natural furniture manufacturing hub, earning Grand Rapids the nickname “Furniture City.” Furniture production is still a component of the region’s vibrant business community, which also includes a thriving financial services sector, a significant manufacturing base, a strong health care segment, and a growing high tech component. Tourism is also a major economic contributor, and the city’s burgeoning craft beer industry led Grand Rapids to be voted “Beer City USA” in 2013.

The city’s cultural institutions make it an attractive place to work, visit and live. Grand Rapids has hosted a multitude of art festivals, highlighted by ArtPrize, a nineteen-day long celebration of art in which the artworks are spread throughout public spaces and a public vote decides the winner. The city is also home to popular art and history museums, including the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum.

Our Grand Rapids office is headed by Floyd E. Gates, Jr., a highly regarded West Michigan attorney with 25 years of experience representing financial institutions, insurance carriers, and a broad range of other businesses. In July 2020 we relocated to a larger suite within our same building and are now serving clients from our new space located at 99 Monroe Avenue NW, Suite 300, Grand Rapids MI 49503.
