Bodman Summer Associate Alumni Testimonials

In Their Own Words

We feel that the best spokespersons for our summer program are our alumni, many of whom are members of our current legal staff. Here are comments from some of our alumni about their experiences in Bodman’s summer program.

"Bodman’s Summer Associate program provided me with exposure to various types of assignments from many different practice areas as well as the opportunity to work with many different members. The firm has designed the summer program to replicate life as an associate, and this ultimately makes the transition into a full-time associate an easier one. As a Summer Associate, I felt included within the firm activities and was able to navigate the summer by doing meaningful work in a well-organized setting.

"The Summer Associate program at Bodman is a rewarding experience in which I was able to fully understand life as an associate at the firm. The program has structure and guidance to navigate day to day firm life while also offering meaningful legal assignments, real client interaction, and the freedom to interact with all offices, attorneys, and practice groups. Because of my experiences as a summer associate, I felt adequately prepared to seamlessly transition to a full time associate after law school."

Summer Associate Class of 2012

"Bodman’s program excels at doing exactly what summer associate programs are meant to do: providing law school students with a glimpse of associate life at a law firm. The assignments are challenging and present opportunities to learn accountability and time management. The firm takes great efforts to expose summer associates to all practice areas available through presentations and diverse assignments. Moreover, the attorneys and staff truly enjoy welcoming the summer associates to the city of Detroit and the Bodman workplace each year. When I returned to Bodman after graduation, I had a smooth transition into life as a full-time associate because I already knew the work ethic that was expected, the types of assignments that I would encounter, and the friendly faces at the firm."

Summer Associate Class of 2011

“My experience as a Bodman Summer Associate offered me exposure to a wide variety of assignments and practice areas. These assignments were accompanied by responsive, helpful partners who were always willing to take the time to discuss the legal issues and offer guidance when needed. More importantly, as a Summer Associate, I felt a part of the team and was able to get a realistic glimpse into what it would ultimately be like as a full-time associate at the Firm.”
